Bring out the Trash Contest!

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 29, 2008, 5:44 AM
I'm a loser, as usual, but go check out all the neat things that were made for the contest and those that won [link] !

---------------------------------

In other news, my eldest sister came to visit for the past week, so I didn't get much crafting done. Right now my inklette is warped to do pickup practice for my runic bands (has been for ages). My medium inkle loom was warped for my first try at double heddle, but I managed to break a couple threads and decided to skip it for another few weeks. After that disaster, I set it up the warp for a box and then realized that I used the wrong size yarn, so the band is too skinny and the pattern is wonky on one side. I'll be using it for a prototype purse instead. I finally got my weaving sketchbook started when my grid stamps showed up a few weeks ago, so I busied myself drawing up new patterns and projects work on, while my sister was visiting.

As soon as I can get to my sewing machine, I've got a t-shirt and pair of jeans that I need to fix for my best friend's boyfriend (I've had this project for months now, so I need to get it done). I've got to help run the trading post out at one of my council's camps this weekend, so I'll be taking along my new effigy corset to handstitch the binding and hopefully get started on the eyelets. If it's cold out though, I'll take my wool gown to work on instead since it'll keep my hands warm.

All that this jabber actually means, is that I should have some new stuff going up soon. Mayfaire opens on May 17th, and I'm determined to have my wool gown done by then!

Thanks for the add and the comment. Your work is really nice, I love seeing well made peasant and middle class things. Plus, the peach effigy corset is beautiful.

Thank you for the Jeeves-related favification!

You're a very talented costumeer. Recently for an art project, I got it into my head that instead of drawing it, I was going to make a clay model and fashion some robes and cloaks for him. I had a lovely time selecting a bunch of interesting fabric, but the final result was less than spectacular, and mostly held together with glue as opposed to thread. I ended up drawing it like I always do.

So, kudos to someone that actually knows what they're doing!
